Story of a Family’s Love Was Top Valentine’s Day Rental at FandangoNow
February 16, 2018
Valentine’s Day may traditionally be for romance, but it was a story of a family’s love that attracted the most rental views Feb. 14 at on-demand site FandangoNow.
New-to-VOD Wonder, starring Julia Roberts, Owen Wilson and Jacob Tremblay, was the No. 1 rental pick for viewers on Valentine’s Day on the site. The film, which earned an Oscar nomination for Best Make-Up, follows a family coping with a boy’s facial deformation and his challenges as he enters junior high.
“Wonder is truly one of those films that the whole family can enjoy,” said Fandango managing editor Erik Davis in a statement, “and it makes sense that a film with such heart would rule rentals during Valentine’s week.”
Three other new-to-digital Oscar contenders, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri; Lady Bird and Coco were among the top five films that fans bought on Wednesday night.
Fandango is currently offering an awards season gift card that offers the ability to see all the nominated films via tickets on the big screen or at home on FandangoNow.
