Voting Is Open for the 2026 Home Entertainment Media Play Awards

Fan voting has begun for the 2026 Home Entertainment Media Play Awards. This is the 16th year of the annual home entertainment industry honors, and the ninth year they have been presented by Media Play News.

Through March 31, film and TV fans and home entertainment enthusiasts can visit MediaPlayNews.com/awards/ballot to select their favorite home entertainment releases of 2025 as nominated by studios, distributors and home entertainment industry professionals.

The awards cover a wide array of home entertainment options, including streaming, from SVOD to AVOD and FAST channels; DVD, Blu-ray Disc and 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray; premium video-on-demand (PVOD) and digital sellthrough.

The results of the consumer vote will be combined with ballots submitted by a panel of expert judges.

“Best of show” winners are then selected from among all eligible submissions for Packaged-Media Title of the Year, TV Disc Release of the Year and Best Blu-ray Disc. A “Fan-Favorite” trophy also will be awarded for the single title receiving the most consumer votes. Judges may also present awards based on special merit.

Winners will be announced in the April issue of Media Play News, scheduled for release April 20.

Last year’s Home Entertainment Media Play Awards saw the Warner Archive Collection’s remastered 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray of John Wayne’s The Searchers earn the top prize, voted Title of the Year among its five trophies, including Blu-ray Disc of the Year, Best Restoration, Best Audio/Visual Quality, and Best Release of a Western.

Home Entertainment Media Play Awards Ballot 2026

  • Please vote for what you think should win in these categories. Voting ends March 31. Consumer preferences will be combined with the judges scores to determine the winners, which will be announced in the April issue of MPN. Nominations are based on submissions by the studios. You may write in your own in each catgory, but these will be collected only for survey purposes and may not influence the outcome of the voting. Additional categories that did not have sufficient entries to advance to the ballot stage will also have winners announced.

Remastered ‘The Searchers’ Finds Success at 2025 Home Entertainment Media Play Awards

The Warner Archive Collection’s remastered 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray edition of director John Ford’s 1956 Western classic The Searchers starring John Wayne won in five categories at the annual Home Entertainment Media Play Awards, taking the top prize of Title of the Year, as well as Blu-ray Disc of the Year, Best Restoration, Best Audio/Visual Quality, and Best Release of a Western.

The Home Entertainment Media Play Awards honor the best home packaged-media, digital and streaming releases of 2024.

The Searchers was part of a dominant haul of 12 awards for Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment, which also saw Friends: The Complete Series 4K Ultra HD take TV on Disc of the Year and Best TV Series Boxed Set, and Dune: Part Two earn Best New Movie Home Release and Best Sci-Fi/Fantasy Release.

Shout! Studios’ DVD of The Whitest Kids U’Know: The Complete Series won Best Vintage TV Disc Release and Fan-Favorite Title of the Year. The sketch comedy series originally ran from 2007 to 2011.

Best 4K Ultra HD Disc was given to Arrow Video’s special edition of 1982’s Conan the Barbarian.

Shout! Studios was the runner up in the studio tally with eight trophies.

In the streaming categories, Best FAST Channel (Free Ad-Supported Streaming Television) went to Pluto TV Trending Now, while Best AVOD Channel went to FilmRise Free Movies & TV. Best Connected TV Platform went to Vizio OS.

‘Oppenheimer’ Continues Dominant Trophy Haul, Sweeps 2024 Home Entertainment Media Play Awards Top Prizes

Universal Pictures Home Entertainment’s Oppenheimer earned six trophies in the annual Home Entertainment Media Play Awards, taking the top prize of Title of the Year, as well as Blu-ray Disc of the Year, Best 4K Ultra HD Disc, Best Audio/Visual Quality, Best New Movie Home Release and Fan-Favorite Title of the Year.

The awards honor the best packaged-media, digital and streaming releases of movies and TV shows in 2023.

Lionsgate’s The Walking Dead: The Complete Collection won TV on Disc of the Year, as well as Best TV Series Boxed Set.

Meanwhile, Paramount’s new 4K edition of the 1981 film Dragonslayer took three awards: Best Disc Upgrade, Best Steelbook and Best Fantasy Release.

Among other major awards, Lionsgate’s The Mist 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray won Best Catalog Movie on Disc, and Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment’s The Last of Us: The Complete First Season won Best Recent TV Season on Disc.

On the digital side, Mill Creek’s Nefarious was named Best PVOD Release. Among streaming content, FilmRise Classic TV was named Best FAST Channel.

Three studios tied for the most trophies, with seven apiece: Universal, Paramount and Lionsgate.

Winners were chosen by a panel of judges in conjunction with an online consumer vote for eligible titles submitted for consideration by studios, distributors and industry professionals.

This is the 14th year of the annual home entertainment industry honors, and the seventh year they have been presented by Media Play News.

Voting Is Open for the 2024 Home Entertainment Media Play Awards

Consumer voting has begun for the 2024 Home Entertainment Media Play Awards. This is the 14th year of the annual home entertainment industry honors, and the seventh year they have been presented by Media Play News.

Through March 31, film and TV fans and home entertainment enthusiasts can visit MediaPlayNews.com/awards/ballot to select their favorite home entertainment releases of 2023, as nominated by studios, distributors and home entertainment industry professionals.

The awards cover a wide array of home entertainment options, including streaming, from SVOD to AVOD and FAST; DVD, Blu-ray Disc and 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray; premium video-on-demand (PVOD) and digital sellthrough. 

The results of the consumer vote will be combined with ballots submitted by a panel of expert judges.

“Best of show” winners are then selected from among all eligible submissions for Packaged-Media Title of the Year, TV Disc Release of the Year and Best Blu-ray Disc. A “Fan-Favorite” trophy also will be awarded for the single title receiving the most consumer votes. Judges may also present awards based on special merit.

Winners will be announced April 18.

Last year’s Home Entertainment Media Play Awards saw Paramount Home Entertainment’s The Godfather Trilogy 50 Years Collector’s Edition earn the top prize, voted Title of the Year, while Paramount’s Top Gun: Maverick took nine awards, including Fan-Favorite Title of the Year.

Paramount Dominates 2023 Home Entertainment Media Play Awards With ‘Top Gun: Maverick,’ ‘The Godfather’

Paramount Home Entertainment’s The Godfather Trilogy 50 Years Collector’s Edition earned the top prize in the annual Home Entertainment Media Play Awards, which honor the best home entertainment packaged-media, digital and streaming releases of 2022, taking Title of the Year and Best Movie Boxed Set. The 4K edition of the original 1972 film won Best Restoration.

Meanwhile, Paramount’s hit film Top Gun: Maverick spearheaded a haul of nine awards. The fighter pilot actioner won Best Fan-Favorite Title of the Year, Best New Movie on Disc, Best 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc, Best Audio/Visual Quality, Best Action/Adventure Release, Best Digital Sellthrough Release, and Best Marketing Initiative for promotional efforts at a NASCAR event. A two-movie boxed set of the 1986 original Top Gun and the sequel won Blu-ray Disc of the Year and Best Packaging.

As a studio, Paramount ended up with 20 total trophies.

Among other major awards, Sony Pictures’ Better Call Saul: The Complete Series won TV on Disc of the Year, as well as Best Complete-Series Set. Universal Pictures’ E.T. — The Extra-Terrestrial 40th anniversary 4K release won Best Catalog Movie on Disc, and Warner’s House of the Dragon: Season One won Best Recent TV Season on Disc.

On the digital side, Paramount’s Orphan: First Kill was named Best PVOD Release. Among stream­ing content, Shout! Factory TV was named Best Niche Streaming Channel, while Disney+ took Best Major SVOD Original Series with season one of the “Star Wars” series “Andor.”

Winners were chosen by a panel of judges in conjunction with an online consumer vote for eligible titles submitted for consideration by studios, distributors and industry professionals. This is the 13th year of the annual home entertainment industry honors, and the sixth year they have been presented by Media Play News.

Voting Is Open for the 2023 Home Entertainment Media Play Awards

Consumer voting has begun for the 2023 Home Entertainment Media Play Awards. This is the 13th year of the annual home entertainment industry honors, and the sixth year they have been presented by Media Play News.

Through March 31, film and TV fans and home entertainment enthusiasts can visit MediaPlayNews.com/awards/ballot to select their favorite home entertainment releases of 2022, as nominated by studios, distributors and home entertainment industry professionals.

The awards cover a wide array of home entertainment options, including streaming, from SVOD to AVOD and FAST; DVD, Blu-ray Disc and 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray; premium video-on-demand (PVOD) and digital sellthrough. 

The results of the consumer vote will be combined with ballots submitted by a panel of expert judges.

“Best of show” winners are then selected from among all eligible submissions for Packaged-Media Title of the Year, TV Disc Release of the Year and Best Blu-ray Disc. A “Fan-Favorite” trophy also will be awarded for the single title receiving the most consumer votes. Judges may also present awards based on special merit.

Winners will be announced April 17.

Last year’s Home Entertainment Media Play Awards saw Warner Bros. Home Entertainment’s Middle-Earth Ultimate Collector’s Edition earn the top prize, voted Title of the Year.

‘Middle-Earth’ Collection Takes Top Honors in 2022 Home Entertainment Media Play Awards

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment’s Middle-Earth Ultimate Collector’s Edition earned the top prize in the annual Home Entertainment Media Play Awards, which honor the best home packaged-media, digital and streaming releases of 2021, taking Title of the Year, Blu-ray Disc of the Year, Best Movie Collection and Best Packaging.

Funimation’s Robotech: Collector’s Edition Blu-ray Disc won TV on Disc of the Year, as well as Best Disc Release of a Vintage TV Series.

The Fan-Favorite Title of the Year as chosen by an online consumer vote was Paramount Home Entertainment’s A Quiet Place Part II.

On the digital side, Paramount’s Yellowstone: Season Four took Best Digital Sellthrough Release, while another Paramount release, The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run, was named Best PVOD Release.

Among stream­ing content, Apple TV+ took Best New Streaming Movie with CODA and Best Season of a Scripted Series with season two of “For All Mankind.”

PBS Masterpiece Prime Video Channel was named Best Niche Streaming Channel.

Voting Is Open for the 2022 Home Entertainment Media Play Awards

Consumer voting has begun for the 2022 Home Entertainment Media Play Awards. This is the 12th year of the annual home entertainment industry honors, and the fifth year they have been presented by Media Play News.

Through April 1, film and TV fans and home entertainment enthusiasts can visit MediaPlayNews.com/awards/ballot to select their favorite home entertainment releases of 2021, as nominated by studios, distributors and home entertainment industry professionals. The awards honor the best movies, series and other content aimed at home audiences, from packaged media to transactional digital release to streaming.

The results of the consumer vote will be combined with ballots submitted by a panel of expert judges. Winners will be announced April 18 at the Media Play News website and its monthly print magazine.

This year’s ballot features more than 90 titles nominated in nearly 40 categories, ranging from best movie and TV show awards to best bonus materials to best niche streaming channel. In addition, three “best of show” winners — Title of the Year, Best TV Release of the Year, and Best Blu-ray Disc — are then selected from among all eligible submissions. A “Fan-Favorite” trophy also will be awarded for the single title receiving the most consumer votes. Judges may also present awards based on special merit.

Last year’s Home Entertainment Media Play Awards saw Sony Pictures Home Entertainment’s Columbia Classics 4K Ultra HD Collection Vol. 1 earn the top prize, voted Title of the Year.

‘Columbia Classics 4K Ultra HD Collection’ Takes Top Honors in 2021 Home Entertainment Media Play Awards

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment’s Columbia Classics 4K Ultra HD Collection Vol. 1 earned the top prize in the 2021 Home Entertainment Media Play Awards, which honor the best home disc, digital and streaming releases of 2020. It won Title of the Year and Best Packaging.

Blu-ray Disc of the Year went to Shout! Factory’s Friday the 13th Collection: Deluxe Edition, which also won Best Boxed Set. HBO’s Game of Thrones: The Complete Collection 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc set won TV on Disc of the Year. Warner Bros.’ The Lord of the Rings: The Motion Picture Trilogy won Best 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc.

On the digital side, Lionsgate’s But I’m a Cheerleader: Director’s Cut won Best Digital Sellthrough Release, while Paramount’s Love and Monsters earned Best Premium Video on Demand Release. Netflix’s The Trial of the Chicago 7 was selected as Best New Streaming Movie, while Disney+ series The Mandalorian: Season 2 won Best Season of a Scripted Series.

In other award categories, Lionsgate’s Knives Out was a triple winner, selected as Fan-Favorite Title of the Year, Best New Movie on Disc and Best Audio/Visual Quality.

Vintage TV shows also were hailed, with Shout! Factory’s “The Carol Burnett Show” picking up a streaming win as Best Binge Series and Mill Creek’s Return of Ultraman honored as Best Disc Release of a Vintage TV Series.

Winners were chosen by a panel of judges in conjunction with an online consumer vote for eligible titles submitted for consideration by studios, distributors and industry professionals.

The annual home entertainment honors are presented by Media Play News, one of five Hollywood trades and the only one to focus exclusively on the home. The awards have been presented in various forms by Media Play News and its predecessor publications for nearly 20 years.
