‘Fantastic Four’ Topped Disc Sales in October; ‘Wicked’ Still No. 1 for 2025

Disney-owned Marvel Studios’ The Fantastic Four: First Steps was No. 1 on the top 10 list of physical-media sales for October 2025, according to Circana’s VideoScan tracking service that compiles DVD and Blu-ray Disc transactions.

The 37th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, The Fantastic Four: First Steps reboots the franchise featuring the classic Marvel superhero team, as they defend Earth against Galactus, an existential threat to humanity who seeks to devour the planet. It earned $274.3 million at the domestic box office and was released on disc Oct. 14, topping the weekly sales chart the rest of the month.

No. 2 for October was another Oct. 14 disc release, Paramount’s Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning. The eighth “Mission: Impossible” film deals with Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) and his IMF team confronting a rogue AI program that seeks to wipe out humanity. Final Reckoning earned $197.4 million at the domestic box office.

Warner and Apple’s F1: The Movie was No. 3 on the October chart. The film stars Brad Pitt as listless racecar driver who is recruited by an old friend to drive for a Formula One team desperate for a win. It arrived on disc Oct. 7 after earning $189.5 million domestically.

Another Oct. 14 disc release, Warner’s Weapons, landed at No. 4 for the month. In the horror film from New Line Cinema and director Zach Cregger, when all but one child from the same class mysteriously vanish on the same night at exactly the same time, a community is left questioning who or what is behind their disappearance. It earned $151.55 million at the domestic box office.

No. 5 was Universal’s Nobody 2. In the action sequel, Bob Odenkirk returns as Hutch, the retired assassin who just wants to relax with his family. In the sequel, Hutch’s vacation is interrupted when local bullies yanks the family into the crosshairs of an unhinged, blood-thirsty crime boss (Sharon Stone). The film earned $21.6 million at the domestic box office and arrived on disc Oct. 7.

The top seller from September, Universal Pictures’ Jurassic World Rebirth, was No. 6 in October. The seventh film in the “Jurassic” franchise follows a team of mercenaries hired by a medical research company to retrieve DNA from rare dinosaurs living on a tropical island that once housed a research facility that conducted genetic experiments. 

No. 7 was DC Studios’ Superman reboot from Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment. From director James Gunn, the creative boss of DC Studios, the new Superman finds the Man of Steel (David Corenswet) facing international controversy after intervening in a foreign war, while Lex Luthor (Nicholas Holt) reveals a dangerous secret about Superman’s home planet of Krypton. It was No. 2 in September after being released at the end of the month.

Universal’s The Bad Guys 2 was No. 8 for the month. Another Oct. 7, disc release, the DreamWorks Animation film, based on the New York Times bestselling children’s graphic novel by Aaron Blabey, takes the Bad Guys to new locations around the world and even further, to outer space. In the sequel about a crackerjack crew of animal outlaws, the now-reformed Bad Guys are trying (very, very hard) to be good, but instead find themselves hijacked into a high-stakes, globe-trotting heist, masterminded by a new team of criminals they never saw coming: The Bad Girls. The film earned $82.6 million at the domestic box office. 

No. 9 was Lionsgate’s Ballerina: From the World of John Wick, also released on disc Sept. 9.  The spinoff of the “John Wick” films follows a newly trained assassin (Ana de Armas) who seeks revenge for her father’s death. It was No. 3 in September.

Universal’s How to Train Your Dragon live-action remake took the No. 10 spot. The film centers on the dragon-fighting Vikings of the island of Berk, where Hiccup (Mason Thames), the son of Chief Stoick the Vast (Gerard Butler), hopes to prove himself as a great warrior, but secretly befriends a dragon named Toothless who is injured in an attack. It was No. 5 in September.

On the year-to-date disc sales chart, Universal’s Wicked remained in the top spot, which it has occupied since February.

Jurassic World Rebirth moved up to No. 2, pushing Sony Pictures’ Venom: The Last Dance to No. 3.

Disney-owned Marvel Studios’ Thunderbolts* and Captain America: Brave New World remained at No. 4 and No. 5, respectively.

Superman jumped up eight spots to No. 6, pushing Universal’s Nosferatu remake down a spot to No. 7. How to Train Your Dragon moved up two spots to No. 8, while Paramount’s Sonic the Hedgehog 3 slid two spots to No. 9 and Warner’s A Minecraft Movie dropped a spot to No. 10.

Disney’s Moana 2 fell out of the top 10.
