Comcast Says Xfinity Live-Streamed Super Bowl LX Faster Into Homes Than Other vMVPD Providers

Comcast’s Xfinity premium television service Feb. 19 announced that it live-streamed the game on its Peacock RealTime4K channel to customers’ homes faster than any other virtual multichannel video program distributor.

According to the service, internal testing showed that Xfinity customers live streaming were among the first in the country to see every moment unfold from Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif., as close to real-time as possible and in the best possible picture and audio quality.

Additional testing confirmed Xfinity’s feed was between nine and 49 seconds faster than virtual MVPDs, including YouTube TV, Hulu + Live TV, Sling TV and DirecTV Stream.

“Delivering the fastest path from stadium to screen is the ultimate benchmark for live sports,” Michael Pilquist, VP of video architecture at Comcast, said in a statement. “RealTime4K builds on our network innovation to give customers not only the most immersive picture and sound, but the speed that keeps them ahead of spoilers, texts, and social media.”

With a full day of Olympics and Super Bowl coverage in RealTime4K, plus streaming coverage on Peacock, Feb. 8 marked the most-trafficked day ever for video streaming on Comcast’s network, according to the company.

RealTime4K is part of Xfinity’s ongoing strategy to redefine how pay-TV subscribers engage with live sports in the digital era. Xfinity ended 2025 with 11.3 million domestic video customers.

Apptopia: Older Viewers Mobile Streaming Winter Olympics for Longest Stints on Peacock

Through the first 10 days of the Milan Cortina Winter Olympics, older Americans spent a record average 90 minutes streaming the Games on Peacock on their mobile devices, according to new data from analytics provider Apptopia.

More than 6.3 billion minutes of streamed Games content has been consumed, which tops the entire tally for the combined 2018 PyeongChang and 2022 Beijing Winter Games.

“Comparing the past three Olympic Games on Peacock, average time spent among daily active users is up for all age groups for these Winter Games, with the exception of the 36-45 bracket,” Apptopia said in a note. “Older users, those aged 46+, saw the largest increase over the Summer 2024 games, at 48.5%.”

Compared to the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics, daily active users are down 9%.

Across all NBCUniversal platforms, an average of 25.7 million viewers are watching the games on a daily basis — double the average 13 million viewers from the 2022 Games.

The 2026 Opening Ceremony averaged 3 million viewers on Peacock, making it the most-streamed Winter Games opening ceremony, according to Nielsen and Adobe Analytics.

Apptopia found that 27% of Peacock streamers watching the Winter Olympics are new to the app, and about 23% were returning users who had dropped their subscription before the Games. The remaining 50% were current active Peacock users.

“This means the Winter Games functioned less as a pure acquisition play and more as a full-funnel lifecycle tool, reactivating lapsed subscribers while deepening engagement among the existing base,” Adam Blacker, director of public relations at Apptopia, said in a statement.

NBC, Peacock Drive Biggest NBA All-Star Game TV Viewership in 15 Years

The 2026 NBA All-Star Game on Feb. 15 was the most-watched annual event since 2011, averaging 8.8 million viewers across NBC, Peacock and Telemundo, according to new Nielsen data — up 87% from the 2025 game telecast on Warner Bros. Discovery’s TNT with 4.7 million viewers.

Peak viewership reached 9.8 million, with online searches up 44% from last year.

The event is the first in the NBA’s new 11-year, $76 billion media distribution deal with Disney, NBCUniversal and Amazon.

The viewership increase was driven by NBC Sports’ “Legendary February” programming and Peacock, which featured new streaming features, including the interactive “courtside live” that allowed streamers to act as their own camera operator. It provided ultra-wide 4K feeds from cameras on the scorer’s table, effectively giving fans a “courtside seat” on their mobile devices or TVs.

The streamer offered “alternative viewing angles,” which enabled viewers to move between multiple curated feeds, including “star spotlight,” and “bench cam,” which showcased real-time reactions from both the home and away team benches.

Peacock was also the distributor of Feb. 13 opening events, including the “Rising Stars Challenge” and the “HBCU Classic.”

The streamer’s “performance view” feature utilized overlays to show real-time stats, heat maps and scoring probabilities during the live stream.

The All-Star Game mixed it up, showcasing three teams — USA Stars, USA Stripes, and Team World (comprised of the NBA’s foreign players) —competing in four 12-minute games.

USA Stars defeated USA Stripes 47–21 in the championship game, with the Minnesota Timberwolves’ Anthony Edwards (USA Stars) given MVP honors with 32 points and nine rebounds.

The Los Angeles Clippers’ Kawhi Leonard (USA Stripes) scored a record 31 points in a single 12-minute round-robin game to send his team to the finals.

Milan Cortina Olympics Most-Watched, Streamed Winter Games in 12 Years

NBCUniversal’s coverage of the 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Olympics averaged 26.5 million viewers across television and streaming platforms through the first five nights (Feb. 6-10), according to NBCUniversal, Nielsen and Adobe Analytics.

The platforms include NBC, Peacock, NBCUniversal digital platforms and Versant’s CNBC and USA Network.

Led by the NBC broadcast network, all five days of Milan Cortina Winter Olympic coverage (since the Feb. 6 Opening Ceremony) have topped 20 million viewers and have posted significant gains over 2022.

This marks the most-watched start to a Winter Games since the 2014 Sochi Olympics, and represents a 93% increase over the same period for the 2022 Beijing Games (which averaged 13.7 million viewers).

NBCUniversal’s Peacock streaming service contributed to the tally, generating more video consumption than the previous Winter Games combined.

Through Feb. 10, Peacock totaled 5.3 billion minutes, more than double the entire 2018 PyeongChang Games (2.2 billion minutes), and 36% higher than the full 2022 Beijing Games (3.9 billion).

Feb. 7 coverage generated a record 1.3 billion minutes of streaming, the first time a Winter Olympics day topped 1 billion minutes.

Through Feb. 12, more than 200 million Americans had watched at least some portion of NBCUniversal’s “Legendary February” coverage (including Super Bowl LX and the Olympics).

The TV ratings jump is attributed to more favorable time zones (Italy is six hours ahead of the U.S. East Coast compared, with more than 13 hours for recent Games in Asia), allowing for more live daytime windows.

NBCUniversal owns the U.S. media rights to the Olympic Games through 2036, which include Los Angeles (2028), the French Alps (2030), Brisbane (2032), Utah (2034), and the 2036 Summer Games.
