Apple TV Launching Season 5 of ‘For All Mankind’ March 27

The fifth season of the alternate history space race drama “For All Mankind” will premiere on Apple TV March 27, with new episodes available weekly on Fridays through May 29.

The sci-fi series depicts a “what if” scenario of a world in which the Soviet Union won the race to land a man on the moon, and the United States expanding the scope of space exploration in the aftermath. Season one, set during the late 1960s and early 1970s, saw the establishment of bases on the moon. Season two, set in the 1980s, followed with lunar colonies, with a race to land on Mars depicted in the third season set in the mid 1990s. Season four, set in 2003, showed tensions escalating on the new Mars colony, where a class system was developing with labor imported from Earth.

The 10-episode fifth season picks up in the years since the heist to put the mineral-rich Goldilocks asteroid into orbit around Mars. Happy Valley has grown into a thriving colony on the Red Planet with thousands of residents and a base for new missions to take humanity even further into the solar system. But with the nations of Earth now demanding law and order on the Mars, friction continues to build between the colonists and their former home.

Returning cast members include Joel Kinnaman, Toby Kebbell, Edi Gathegi, Cynthy Wu, Coral Peña and Wrenn Schmidt, alongside new series regulars Mirelle Enos, Costa Ronin, Sean Kaufman, Ruby Cruz and Ines Asserson.

“For All Mankind” was created by Ronald D. Moore and showrunners Matt Wolpert and Ben Nedivi. The trio serve as executive producers alongside Maril Davis of Tall Ship Productions, as well as Kira Snyder, David Weddle, Bradley Thompson and Seth Edelstein. The series is produced for Apple TV by Sony Pictures Television.

The first four seasons of “For All Mankind” are now streaming on Apple TV.
