Trump Claims Additional $20 Million From Paramount in Legal Settlement
July 22, 2025
President Trump July 22, in a social media post, claimed he is receiving an additional $20 million from Paramount Global as part of a previously-announced $16 million settlement over allegations of “mental anguish” after a “60 Minutes” interview last October with his Democrat opponent, then-vice president Kamala Harris.
In his post, Trump said he anticipated getting the additional funds from pending Paramount owner Skydance Media in the form of advertising, public service announcements (PSAs) and related programming.
Skydance is attempting to close the $8 billion acquisition of Paramount, which is dependent upon approval from the Trump-controlled Federal Communications Commission.
On July 21, three Democratic lawmakers in Congress wrote a letter to Skydance CEO David Ellison to determine whether any of the Paramount settlement violated anti-bribery laws.
To date, Trump has received $66 million in combined legal settlements with ABC News, Meta, X and Paramount, excluding the aforementioned funding, based in part on his expulsion from the former Twitter social media platform, Facebook and Instagram following the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at Congress, in addition to an alleged defamation claim against ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos.
“This is another in a long line of VICTORIES over the Fake News Media, who we are holding account for their widespread fraud and deceit,” Trump wrote.
