TCL Studios Nov. 19 hosted the world premiere of five short films from its AI TV/Film Accelerator Program TCL Film Machine, followed by a panel with award-winning filmmaker and AI pioneer Dave Clark, program finalists George Huang (Swimming With Sharks), Paul Johansson (“One Tree Hill”), Kellita Smith (“The Bernie Mac Show,” “Z Nation”), Chen Tang (“Warrior”) and Kurt Yaeger (“Another Life”), and TCL Studios executives.

In addition to the program finalists, attending were AI film director and digital imaging pioneer Pitof Comar and TCL Studios executives Haohong Wang, GM of TCL Research America; Chris Regina, chief content officer, TCL North America; Daniel Smith, chief creative officer, TCL North America; and Catherine Zhang, head of content service and partnership, TCL North America

Following the premiere screening of the five finalists’ visionary short films, which span sci-fi adventure to docufiction, the finalists joined Dave Clark and TCL North America’s Chris Regina and Daniel Smith for a discussion of the program and the role of AI as a tool of innovation for filmmakers. TCL Studios provided each filmmaker with AI tools and technology for storyboarding, animating, scoring and editing.

All five short films will stream on TCLtv+ beginning Dec. 12. TCLtv+ is currently available on TCL Roku TV and all Roku devices, TCL Google TV, and TCL Fire TV, as well as through the app store.

Earlier on in the day, Dave Clark announced the launch of a new generative AI Studio with funding from film producer and investor Peter Chernin.
