2025 BASE Awards: Warner Bros. Discovery No. 1 Distributor, ‘Dune: Part Two,’ ‘Deadpool vs. Wolverine’ Top Titles

Warner Bros. Discovery was named top distributor for the third year, with Warner Bros. Pictures’ Dune: Part Two and Disney/Marvel Studios’ Deadpool vs. Wolverine honored as the top physical and digital sellthrough titles of 2024, at the 45th annual 2025 BASE Awards, held Nov. 13 in London.

The British Association for Screen Entertainment (BASE) held its annual gala at the Camden’s Roundhouse playing host to 550 attendees to celebrate the innovation, commercial impact, and cultural significance of home entertainment across 30 industry categories.

Universal Pictures led multiple categories, including marketing campaigns for Wicked and the Oscar-winning Anora.

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment won awards for Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, Silk Factory and Venom: The Last Dance.

Studiocanal won for The Apprentice, The Third Man and Seven Samurai.

WBD was cited for leading the U.K. home entertainment market by both value and volume, according to Official Charts Company data. The studio sold 14.5 million units across all formats, generating £116.5 million ($153.2 million) in retail value, driven by a mix of theatrical and catalog titles. Top-selling titles included Wonka (820,791 units/£9.4 million/$12.4 million) and Dune: Part Two (816,715 units/£10.1 million/$13.3 million), which dominated 2024 sales charts. Other top performers, including BarbieAquaman and the Lost Kingdom and Twisters. The studio’s catalog titles also remained strong, with classics Elf, “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy, and Interstellar continuing to perform at retail.

Warner’s A Nightmare on Elm Street: 40th Anniversary won “Campaign of the Year — Catalog” for its “intelligent, passionate and highly effective celebration” of a horror classic. Judges praised the campaign’s situational analysis, tiered audience strategy, and understanding of the franchise’s legacy.

Twisters won “Campaign of the Year — New Release Film: £5 million–£15 million ($6.6 million-$20 million) Box Office” for its “meticulously planned and highly effective marketing campaign.” Judges praised the thorough situational analysis, well-chosen benchmark titles, and strategic coordination across physical and digital channels.

“Success across both physical and digital formats underscores Warner’s leadership, innovation, and ongoing commitment to delivering premium entertainment experiences to audiences,” BASE said in a statement.

Disney’s Deadpool vs. Wolverine generated £6.3 million ($8.3 million) in retail value, based on data provided by Official Charts Company.

Universal Pictures’ Wicked won “Campaign of the Year — New Release Film: Over £15 million Box Office” for its “strategic, high-impact marketing that overcame unique post-box office challenges.” Judges praised the insightful analysis of potential issues, including music rights and post-Christmas timing, and highlighted creative executions such as the TCR takeover, TikTok countdown, and strong Amazon Prime retail performance.

Julia Negretti, international operations manager at Paramount Pictures, was named 2025 DEGI Hedy Lamarr Rising Star award recipient, recognized for her rapid progression and outstanding contributions since joining Paramount in 2020.

“The BASE Awards matter,” CEO Liz Bales said in a statement. “They celebrate the relevance and power of home entertainment, particularly transactional, as a complimentary force to theatrical and streaming business models. This sector is agile, additive and essential to the screen industry’s success.”
