Netflix Releasing Original Animated Hit ‘KPop Demon Hunters’ in Select North American Theaters

Netflix Aug. 12 announced it will release its original (produced by Sony Pictures Animation) animated feature film KPop Demon Hunters in select North American theaters with a special sing-along edition over the Aug. 23-24 weekend.
The movie, which features fictional K-pop bands HUNTR/X and Saja Boys leading double lives as demon hunters and demons, has become Netflix’s most-streamed animated movie of all time, in addition to ranking No. 4 all-time among English-language movies with 158 million views since its June 20 release. The movie’s soundtrack also ranks No. 1 on the global Billboard chart with more than 3 billion streams.
Kevin Woo, the vocalist behind Mystery Saja and a former member of K-pop boyband U-KISS, upped his Spotify followers by 10,000 before the film’s release to more than 25 million followers post-launch.
Tickets go on sale at Aug. 13 at 6 a.m. PT / 9 a.m. ET.
