Netflix Leads All Streamers With Record 35 BAFTA TV Award Nominations

Netflix’s last season of royal family drama “The Crown” received a leading eight nominations for the upcoming BAFTA Television Awards taking place May 12 in London, honoring the best in British television in 2023.
The streamer topped all direct-to-consumer platforms with 35 nominations, including best international drama “Beef,” “Class Act,” local drama “Top Boy,” Anjana Vasan in “Black Mirror” episode “Demon 79,” leading actor Kane Robinson in “Top Boy,” best supporting actress Lesley Manville in “The Crown,” best supporting actress Elizabeth Debicki for her role as Diana in “The Crown,” best leading actor for Dominic West for his role as Prince Charles in “The Crown,” and best supporting actor for Salim Daw in “The Crown.”
Netflix also secured a documentary nomination for Vjeran Tomic: The Spider-Man of Paris, a reality nomination for “Squid Game: The Challenge,” and a “special factual” nom for “Chimp Empire.” The streamer also nabbed a “memorable moment” nomination for David Beckham teasing wife Victoria about her “working class” upbringing in limited series “Beckham.”
Disney+ picked up nominations for the family diner drama “The Bear” and Máiréad Tyers for best female performance in a comedy (“Extraordinary”). Apple TV+ got noms for “Slow Horses,” “Hannah Waddingham: Home For Christmas” and “The Enfield Poltergeist.” Prime Video scores for David Tennant for best male performance in a comedy in “Good Omens.”
The Warner Bros. Discovery original series “The Last of Us” and “Succession” received multiple nominations, but are technically distributed in the U.K. by Sky Max, not the U.S.-based Max streaming service.
