Peacock Paris Olympics Streaming Reached Record 20.3 Billion Minutes Through Aug. 8
August 12, 2024
The Paris Summer Olympics are over, but the media data results are still being tabulated.
The Peacock streaming service, which had exclusive U.S. access to all events at the 33rd Olympiad, generated a record 20.3 billion minutes streamed, up 21% from all prior Summer and Winter Olympics combined (16.8 billion minutes across NBCUniversal digital platforms), according to NBCUniversal.
The tally averages 1.45 billion minutes streamed per day on Peacock over the first 14 days of the Olympics. For comparison purposes, when a program tops 1 billion minutes streamed — in a week — on U.S. household televisions, it typically ranks atop the Nielsen charts.
The second half of the U.S. men’s basketball come-from-behind semifinal victory over Serbia on Aug. 8 averaged 13.5 million viewers across NBC, the USA Network and Peacock (live from 4-4:45 p.m. ET). Full-game viewership saw 7.9 million viewers on USA Network and Peacock; second half on NBC, USA Network, and Peacock).

NBA star Steph Curry led Team USA with 36 points against Serbia and 24 points in the gold medal win against France. He hit four three-pointers in the fourth quarter, including one over two French defenders to help the U.S. pull off a tight win on Sunday, Aug. 10.
After the Aug. 11 Closing Ceremony, NBCUniversal debuted Curry’s first TV comedy, “Mr. Throwback,” a fictional take on a high school basketball teammate (played by Adam Pally), which co-stars Curry, who also executive produces exclusively for Peacock.
