Paramount+ Renews ‘Landman’ for Season Two

The Paramount+ streaming service has renewed its original series “Landman” for a second season. The series from “Yellowstone” creator Taylor Sheridan stars Billy Bob Thornton as a problem-solving executive for a big Texas oil company.

“Landman” is a modern-day tale of fortune-seeking in the proverbial boomtowns of West Texas oil rigs, exploring the lives of both the roughnecks working the fields and the wildcat billionaires driving the industry.

The cast also includes Demi Moore, Andy Garcia, Ali Larter, Jacob Lofland, Michelle Randolph, Paulina Chávez, Kayla Wallace, Mark Collie, James Jordan and Colm Feore.

“Landman” is produced by MTV Entertainment Studios, 101 Studios and Sheridan’s Bosque Ranch Productions, and is distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution. The series is executive produced by co-creators Sheridan and Christian Wallace alongside Thornton, David C. Glasser, David Hutkin, Ron Burkle, Bob Yari, Geyer Kosinski, Michael Friedman and Stephen Kay, while Tommy Turtle serves as co-executive producer. Other executive producers include Dan Friedkin and Jason Hoch from Imperative Entertainment, and J.K. Nickell and Megan Creydt from Texas Monthly, the companies responsible for the original “Boomtown” podcast upon which the series is based.

In renewing the show for a second season, Paramount cited Nielsen data ranking the series as a top 10 SVOD original series in the fourth quarter. Paramount+ reported the first episode had 35 million global streaming viewers, while the series set company records for most-watched season premiere and finale episodes, and was the service’s No. 1 original series of all time for households and driving engagement.

“’Landman’ was one of the biggest shows of the year because of Taylor Sheridan’s unique ability to tap into the cultural zeitgeist, harnessing the Neo-western themes of rugged individualism, ambition and working-class struggles set against contemporary debates around energy, climate change and economic growth,” said Paramount co-CEO Chris McCarthy. “The series has helped drive Paramount+ to new heights as the No. 2 SVOD in the U.S. for original hours watched in Q4, alongside our other hit series ‘Tulsa King,’ ‘The Agency,’ ‘Lioness’ and ‘Dexter: Original Sin.’”

The first season of “Landman,” which ran from Nov. 17, 2024, to Jan. 12, 2025, is available to stream exclusively on Paramount+.
