Paramount+ Renews Texas Oil Series ‘Landman’ for Third Season

The Paramount+ streaming service Dec. 5 announced it has renewed its original series “Landman” for a third season.

“Landman” is currently in the midst of its second season, which debuted Nov. 16, and according to Paramount+ is one of the top-viewed streaming series, prompting the renewal. The season two premiere garnered more than 9.2 million views, up 262% from the season one premiere, the streamer reported, making it the most-watched premiere for any original series on Paramount+.

The series stars Billy Bob Thornton as Texas oil company bigwig Tommy Norris, alongside a cast that includes Demi Moore, Andy Garcia, Ali Larter, Sam Elliott, Jacob Lofland, Michelle Randolph, Paulina Chávez, Kayla Wallace, Mark Collie, James Jordan and Colm Feore.

In the second season, as oil rises from the Earth, so do secrets — and Tommy’s breaking point may be closer than he realizes. Facing mounting pressure from M-Tex Oil, Cami Miller (Moore), and the shadow of his kin, survival in West Texas isn’t noble — it’s brutal. And sooner or later something’s got to break.

The series was created by Taylor Sheridan and Christian Wallace and is based on the 11-part podcast “Boomtown” from Imperative Entertainment and Texas Monthly about the billionaires and roughnecks responsible for the fortune-fueled Texas oil industry.

“Landman” is produced by Paramount Television Studios, 101 Studios and Sheridan’s Bosque Ranch Productions. Sheridan and Wallace serve as executive producers alongside Thornton, David C. Glasser, David Hutkin, Ron Burkle, Bob Yari, Geyer Kosinski, Michael Friedman and Stephen Kay, plus Dan Friedkin and Jason Hoch for Imperative Entertainment, and J.K. Nickell and Megan Creydt for Texas Monthly. Tommy Turtle serves as co-executive producer.
