The Elite 50

The Elite 50

Welcome to our first-ever salute to 50 Women to Watch in the Digital Entertainment Business, in which our editors carefully selected the 50 women executives we believe will have the greatest impact on our
industry in the coming year.

It’s a successor to our popular Women in Home Entertainment feature, which we’ve been publishing annually since Media Play News launched in 2018.

We broadened the pool of candidates to include anyone involved in the digital entertainment world, from technology to communications, from distribution to the creative side of the business. There’s a big pool of executives involved in the ultimate goal of our industry, which is to bring entertainment directly to the consumer, mostly in the home but also on the go.

We’ve also expanded what was perhaps the most popular segment of our Women in Home Entertainment features: a Q&A on a series of questions pertaining to culture, leadership, career paths and the future of our business.

Previous Q&As were limited to the dozen-plus “captains” we identified as being on the front lines of home entertainment. This year, we gave many more of our honorees the option of participating, and we pared down our questions to four we felt would have the widest reader appeal: What is a leader? How do you define success? How did you establish your culture? And, what is the most significant challenge facing your business in the next year?

We received such an overwhelming response that our print and digital edition could only accommodate abridged answers. But thanks to the internet, we have posted the complete Q&As.

So please join me in saluting the 50 Women to Watch in the Digital Entertainment Business — and please let me know what you think of our new approach.

I’ve said, many times, that satisfying our readers is our No. 1 priority. We rely on you to tell us how we’re doing, and what we can do better.

Please send me an email anytime with your thoughts. I can be reached at tkarnold@mediaplaynews.com.
