‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’ Tops Weekly Fandango at Home Chart
October 15, 2024
Warner Bros.’ Beetlejuice Beetlejuice topped the chart of the 10 most-popular films on Fandango’s transactional digital service Fandango at Home (previously Vudu) for the week ended Oct. 13.
Tim Burton’s sequel to his 1988 film Beetlejuice debuted for premium digital purchase and rental on Oct. 8. In the sequel, Michael Keaton returns to his iconic role as Beetlejuice alongside Oscar nominee Winona Ryder (“Stranger Things,” Little Women) as Lydia Deetz and two-time Emmy winner Catherine O’Hara (“Schitt’s Creek,” The Nightmare Before Christmas) as Delia Deetz, with new cast members Justin Theroux (Star Wars: Episode VIII — The Last Jedi, The Leftovers), Monica Bellucci (Spectre, “The Matrix” films), Arthur Conti (“House of the Dragon”) in his feature film debut, Emmy nominee Jenna Ortega (“Wednesday,” Scream VI) as Lydia’s daughter Astrid, and Oscar nominee Willem Dafoe (Poor Things, At Eternity’s Gate). Meanwhile, the two-film collection of both “Beetlejuice” films landed at No. 3 on the chart.
Dropping from the top spot to No. 2 was Marvel Studios’ Deadpool & Wolverine. The third “Deadpool” film, which debuted Oct. 1 for premium digital rental and sale, finds Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) teaming up with Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) to stop the destruction of his universe.
Falling two spots to No. 4 on the chart was Universal Pictures’ Blumhouse flick Speak No Evil, which also became available Oct. 1 for premium digital rental and sale. The film stars James McAvoy as a charismatic alpha-male whose untrammeled hospitality masks an unspeakable darkness when he invites a family of vacationing Americans to his idyllic country estate for a weekend getaway.
Rising two spots to No. 5 on the chart was Universal’s Twisters, which became available for non-premium pricing Oct. 8. A belated sequel to 1996’s Twister, the film follows tornado researcher Kate (Daisy Edgar-Jones), who after a devastating tornado encounter gives up chasing storms across the Oklahoma prairie. Lured back to the field by a once-in-a-lifetime scientific opportunity, Kate crosses paths with Tyler (Glen Powell), a charming daredevil and self-proclaimed tornado wrangler whose thirst for tornado-tracking adventures made him a social media sensation.
