‘The Crow’ Tops Weekly Fandango at Home Chart Through Sept. 15
September 16, 2024
Lionsgate’s The Crow topped the chart of the 10 most-popular films on Fandango’s transactional digital service Fandango at Home (previously Vudu) for the week ended Sept. 15.
A modern reimagining of the 1989 comic book of the same name, The Crow became available for premium digital rental and sale on Sept. 13. It tells the dark love story of soulmates Eric (Bill Skarsgård) and Shelly (FKA Twigs), who are brutally murdered when the demons of her past catch up with them. Given the chance to save his true love by sacrificing himself, Eric sets out to seek merciless revenge on their killers, traversing the worlds of the living and the dead.
Landing at No. 2 on the chart was “Columbia Pictures 100th Anniversary Volume 2” bundle, with 100 classic movies from the studio for $100. The collection includes such films as The Craft, Real Genius, Passengers, Battle: Los Angeles, As Good as It Gets and Dr. Strangelove.
Falling from the top spot to No. 3 on the chart was Disney/Pixar’s animated Inside Out 2. The sequel to 2015’s Inside Out is available for premium digital rental. Inside Out 2 returns to the mind of newly minted teenager Riley just as headquarters is undergoing a sudden demolition to make room for something entirely unexpected — new emotions. Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear and Disgust, who’ve long been running a successful operation by all accounts, aren’t sure how to feel when Anxiety shows up. Maya Hawke lends her voice to Anxiety, alongside Amy Poehler as Joy, Phyllis Smith as Sadness, Lewis Black as Anger, Tony Hale as Fear, and Liza Lapira as Disgust.
Falling a spot from No. 3 to No. 4 on the chart was Universal Pictures’ Twisters, a belated sequel to 1996’s Twister available for premium digital rental and sale starting Aug. 13. It follows tornado researcher Kate (Daisy Edgar-Jones), who after a devastating tornado encounter gives up chasing storms across the Oklahoma prairie to safely study them on screens in New York City. Lured back to the field by a once-in-a-lifetime scientific opportunity, Kate crosses paths with Tyler (Glen Powell), a self-proclaimed tornado wrangler whose thirst for tornado-tracking adventures made him a social media sensation.
Remaining at No. 5 on the chart was Universal’s animated Despicable Me 4, available for regular digital sale (after a premium run). The fourth installment in the series follows Gru, Lucy and their girls as they welcome a new member to the family — Gru Jr. — who is intent on tormenting his dad as a new nemesis shows up and forces the family to go on the run. Despicable Me 4 features the voices of Steve Carell, Kristen Wiig, Will Ferrell, Sofia Vergara, Joey King, Stephen Colbert and Miranda Cosgrove.
