Apple TV Unveils First-Look Images of ‘For All Mankind’ Spinoff ‘Star City,’ Due May 29

Apple TV Feb. 26 unveiled a first look at the upcoming sci-fi series “Star City,” a spinoff of “For All Mankind” that will launch May 29 with two episodes. Subsequent installments of the eight-episode season will be released Fridays through July 10.

“For All Mankind” depicts a “what if” scenario of a world in which the Soviet Union won the race to land a man on the moon, leading the United States to expand the scope of space exploration in the aftermath.

“Star City” serves as a prequel to those events, a paranoid thriller that explores the story from behind the Iron Curtain, showing the lives of the cosmonauts, the engineers, and the intelligence officers embedded among them in the Soviet space program, and the risks they all took to propel humankind forward.

The series stars Rhys Ifans (“House of the Dragon”), Anna Maxwell Martin (“Motherland”), Agnes O’Casey (“Black Doves”), Alice Englert (“Bad Behaviour”), Solly McLeod (“House of the Dragon”), Adam Nagaitis (“Chernobyl”), Ruby Ashbourne Serkis (“I, Jack Wright”), Josef Davies (“Andor”) and Priya Kansara (“Bridgerton”).

“Star City” was created by “For All Mankind” creators Ben Nedivi, Matt Wolpert and Ronald D. Moore, who also serve as executive producers alongside Maril Davis of Tall Ship Productions, as well as Andrew Chambliss and Steve Oster. Wolpert and Nedivi serve as showrunners. “Star City” is produced for Apple TV by Sony Pictures Television.

Apple TV Releases Trailer for Season 5 of ‘For All Mankind,’ Due March 27

Apple TV Feb. 24 released the trailer for the fifth season of “For All Mankind.” The new season of the alternate history space race drama will premiere on the streaming service March 27, with new episodes available weekly on Fridays through May 29.

The sci-fi series depicts a “what if” scenario of a world in which the Soviet Union won the race to land a man on the moon, and the United States expanding the scope of space exploration in the aftermath. Season one, set during the late 1960s and early 1970s, saw the establishment of bases on the moon. Season two, set in the 1980s, followed with lunar colonies, with a race to land on Mars depicted in the third season set in the mid 1990s. Season four, set in 2003, showed tensions escalating on the new Mars colony, where a class system was developing with labor imported from Earth.

The 10-episode fifth season picks up in the years since the heist to put the mineral-rich Goldilocks asteroid into orbit around Mars. Happy Valley has grown into a thriving colony on the Red Planet with thousands of residents and a base for new missions to take humanity even further into the solar system. But with the nations of Earth now demanding law and order on the Mars, friction continues to build between the colonists and their former home.

Returning cast members include Joel Kinnaman, Toby Kebbell, Edi Gathegi, Cynthy Wu, Coral Peña and Wrenn Schmidt, alongside new series regulars Mirelle Enos, Costa Ronin, Sean Kaufman, Ruby Cruz and Ines Asserson.

“For All Mankind” was created by Ronald D. Moore and showrunners Matt Wolpert and Ben Nedivi. The trio serve as executive producers alongside Maril Davis of Tall Ship Productions, as well as Kira Snyder, David Weddle, Bradley Thompson and Seth Edelstein. The series is produced for Apple TV by Sony Pictures Television.

Apple TV Debuts Trailer for New Series ‘Imperfect Women’

Apple TV has released the trailer for the limited series “Imperfect Women,” a new psychological thriller starring Kerry Washington and Elisabeth Moss. The eight-episode series will debut March 18 with the first two episodes followed by new episodes every Wednesday through April 29.

Based on Araminta Hall’s novel of the same name, “Imperfect Women” examines a murder investigation that shatters the lives of a decades-long friendship of three women. As the investigation unfolds, so does the truth about how even the closest friendships may not be what they seem. The thriller examines love, betrayal and the compromises that alter lives irrevocably.

The ensemble cast for “Imperfect  Women” also includes Kate Mara, Joel Kinnaman, Corey Stoll, Leslie Odom Jr., Audrey Zahn, Jill Wagner, Rome Flynn, Sheryl Lee Ralph and Sherri Saum.

“Imperfect Women” is a co-production of 20th Century Television and Apple Studios.

Apple Acquires IP, Rights to Hit Series ‘Severance’ for $70 Million

Apple has secured the IP and rights to its hit sci-fi series “Severance” for a reported $70 million.

Apple acquired the show from its original production studio Fifth Season, which now becomes an executive producer, with the upcoming third season produced by Apple Studios. Creator Dan Erickson and director Ben Stiller will remain on board with the show.

Apple, which has greenlighted a third and fourth season of the show, reportedly also plans to launch prequels and spin-offs related to “Severance.”

Season two became Apple TV’s most-watched original show with more than 6.4 billion streaming minutes during its initial run from January to March of 2025, according to Nielsen.

The second season premiere drove a 126% increase in new Apple TV subscribers during the first three weeks of January 2025 compared with the previous year, the company notes.

Season two was also the most-nominated program at the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards, with eight wins out of a record 27 nominations, including

Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for Britt Lower; Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series (Tramell Tillman); and Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series for Merritt Wever.

The show also took home Emmys for title design, music composition, cinematography, production Design and sound mixing.

Apple TV Unveils Trailer for ‘Monarch: Legacy of Monsters’ Season 2

Apple TV on Feb. 3 unveiled the season two trailer for “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters,” the  series from Legendary Television starring Kurt Russell, Wyatt Russell, Anna Sawai, Ren Watabe, Mari Yamamoto and Anders Holm.

The 10-episode second season of “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters” will premiere on Feb. 27 with one episode airing every Friday until May 1.

Season one of “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters” tracked two siblings looking to uncover their family’s connection to the secretive organization known as Monarch. Clues lead them into the world of monsters and ultimately down the rabbit hole to Colonel Lee Shaw (played by Kurt Russell and Wyatt Russell), taking place in the 1950s and half a century later where Monarch is threatened by what Shaw knows.

Season two will pick up with the fate of Monarch hanging in the balance and will feature King Kong, Godzilla and introduce a new Titan, the enigmatic Titan X, that is now officially on the loose. New season guest stars will include Takehiro Hira, Cliff Curtis, Dominique Tipper and Camilo Jiménez Varón.

Apple TV Unveils First Look at Season Two of ‘Criminal Record,’ Debuting April 22

Apple TV unveiled a first look at season two of “Criminal Record,” the crime thriller starring Academy Award winner and BAFTA Award winner Peter Capaldi and Laurence Olivier Award nominee and Critics Choice Award nominee Cush Jumbo.

The eight-episode second season of “Criminal Record” will make its global debut on Apple TV with the first episode on April 22, followed by new episodes weekly through June 10.

From BAFTA Award nominee Paul Rutman, “Criminal Record” is a character-driven drama set in the heart of contemporary London, exploring the impossibility of policing when the truth is up for grabs. In season two, when a young man is stabbed to death at a political rally, rival police officers June Lenker (Jumbo) and Daniel Hegarty (Capaldi) are forced into an uneasy alliance. But what starts as a hunt for a murderer escalates into an undercover operation to foil a far-right bomb plot in the heart of London.

Season two reunites Capaldi as Detective Chief Inspector Daniel Hegarty and Jumbo as Detective Sergeant June Lenker. Dustin Demri-Burns, Luca Pasqualino, Luther Ford, Lyndsey Marshal and Peter Sullivan join the cast in addition to the returning ensemble that includes Shaun Dooley, Stephen Campbell Moore and Charlie Creed-Miles.

Apple TV Unveils First Look at Season 4 of ‘Ted Lasso,’ Due in Summer 2026

Apple TV has announced that the fourth season of its hit series “Ted Lasso” is officially set to make its global debut in the summer of 2026, and shared a glimpse at the new season starring and executive produced by Jason Sudeikis.

Currently in production, the fourth season features returning stars Emmy award-winner Hannah Waddingham, Juno Temple, Emmy award-winner Brett Goldstein, Brendan Hunt and Jeremy Swift, alongside new season four additions including Tanya Reynolds, Jude Mack, Faye Marsey, Rex Hayes, Aisling Sharkey, Abbie Hern and Grant Feely.

In season four, Ted returns to Richmond, taking on his biggest challenge yet: coaching a second division women’s football team. Throughout the course of the season, Ted and the team learn to leap before they look, taking chances they never thought they would.

“Ted Lasso” season four adds Emmy Award winner Jack Burditt (“Nobody Wants This,” “Modern Family,” “30 Rock”) as executive producer under a new overall deal with Apple TV.

The first season of “Ted Lasso” became the most Emmy-nominated comedy series, and the series went on to land back-to-back Outstanding Comedy Series Emmys for its first two seasons on air.

Apple TV Renews ‘Shrinking’ for Season 4 Ahead of S3 Debut

Apple TV has announced a season four renewal for the comedy “Shrinking,” starring Emmy Award nominee Jason Segel and multi-award winner Harrison Ford.

The series will also see the return of cast members Christa Miller, Emmy Award nominee Jessica Williams, Luke Tennie, Emmy Award nominee Michael Urie, Lukita Maxwell and Ted McGinley.

The news comes just ahead of the premiere of “Shrinking” season three, which returns to Apple TV with the first episode on Jan. 28, with new episodes debuting every Wednesday through April 8.

“Shrinking” follows a grieving therapist (Segel) who starts to break the rules and tell his clients exactly what he thinks. Ignoring his training and ethics, he finds himself making huge, tumultuous changes to people’s lives — including his own.

In addition to the ensemble cast, “Shrinking” season three welcomes back guest stars Brett Goldstein, Damon Wayans Jr., Wendie Malick and Cobie Smulders, along with new additions Jeff Daniels and multi-award winner Michael J. Fox, as well as Candice Bergen, Sherry Cola and Isabella Gomez.

“Shrinking” is produced for Apple TV by Warner Bros. Television (where Bill Lawrence and Goldstein are under overall deals), along with Lawrence’s Doozer Productions. Lawrence, Segel, Goldstein, Neil Goldman, James Ponsoldt, Jeff Ingold, Liza Katzer, Randall Winston, Rachna Fruchbom, Brian Gallivan, Ashley Nicole Black and Bill Posley executive produce.

The series has earned multiple Primetime Emmy Award nominations and a Critics Choice Award win for Urie for his performance in the show’s sophomore season.

Season 2 of ‘For All Mankind’ Gets March 17 Blu-ray Disc Release from Sony Pictures

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release season two of the alternate history space race drama “For All Mankind” on Blu-ray Disc March 17, ahead of the show’s season five debut on Apple TV.

The series depicts a “what if” scenario of a world in which the Soviet Union won the race to land a man on the moon, with the United States expanding the scope of space exploration in the aftermath. Season one, set during the late 1960s and early 1970s, saw the establishment of bases on the moon. Season two, set in the 1980s, followed with lunar colonies.

The four-disc Sony Pictures release has the series’ 10 episodes presented in HD across four discs, with 5.1 English audio on each episode. Extras include a commentary on episode 10 by the creators.
