‘Predator: Badlands’ Debuts at No. 1 on Disc Sales Charts

In a week loaded with major new releases, Disney-owned 20th Century Studios’ Predator: Badlands debuted at No. 1 on the Circana VideoScan chart, which tracks combined sales of all disc formats, and the dedicated sales chart for Blu-ray formats the week ended Feb. 21. It was also the top 4K disc seller.

The sci-fi actioner follows Dek, a young Predator outcast from his clan, who finds an unlikely ally in the android Thia (Elle Fanning) and embarks on a treacherous journey in search of the ultimate adversary. The film earned $91 million at the domestic box office.

HD formats accounted for 67% of first-week Predator: Badlands unit sales, with 29% from regular Blu-ray Disc and 38% from 4K Ultra HD disc. Thus, it was also No. 1 on the 4K disc sales chart.

Eight of the top 10 were newcomers, and 11 of the top 20.

No. 2 on the overall and Blu-ray Disc sales charts was another newcomer, Universal Pictures’ Five Nights at Freddy’s 2, selling about 44% as many copies as the top title. The horror sequel is set one year after the supernatural nightmare at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza. A new chapter of terror begins when former security guard Mike’s sister, Abby, sneaks out in search of her animatronic friends: Freddy, Bonnie, Chica and Foxy. As terrifying events begin to unfold, dark secrets about the true origin of Freddy’s are revealed, unleashing a long-forgotten horror hidden away for decades. The film earned $127.7 million at the domestic box office. HD formats accounted for 56% of first-week sales, with 33% from regular Blu-ray and 23% from 4K disc. It was No. 3 on the 4K disc chart.

A “Freddy’s” two-movie collection landed at No. 10.

Debuting at No. 3 on the overall and Blu-ray Disc charts, and No. 4 on the 4K chart, was Lionsgate’s Now You See Me: Now You Don’t. The third “Now You See Me” film finds the original Four Horsemen (Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Dave Franco and Isla Fisher) reuniting to expose the corruption of a diamond heiress (Rosamund Pike) with connections to international criminals. The cast also includes Justice Smith, Dominic Sessa and Ariana Greenblatt as a new team of illusionists, plus returning cast members Morgan Freeman and Lizzy Caplan. The film has earned $61.9 million at the domestic box office. HD formats accounted for 60% of first-week sales, with 35% from regular Blu-ray and 25% from 4K disc.

No. 4 overall was the newly released Sisu: Road to Revenge from Sony Pictures. The follow-up to the 2022 Finnish sleeper hit Sisu finds former commando Aatami Korpi (Jorma Tommila), two years after his first rampage against the Nazis, returning to the house where his family was brutally murdered during the World War II. He dismantles it and loads it onto a truck, determined to rebuild it somewhere safe in their honor. However, his plans are interrupted by the return of the Soviet officer (Stephen Lang) who killed his family, who now commands a squadron of agents determined to eliminate Aatami once and for all. It earned $4.5 million at the domestic box office. With 51% of its first-week sales coming from HD formats (42% regular Blu-ray, 9% 4K), it was the No. 5 Blu-ray and No. 12 on the 4K chart.

No. 5 on the overall disc sales chart was the 1959 Best Picture Oscar-winning epic Ben-Hur, newly released by Warner in a new 4K Ultra HD disc edition that accounted for 99% of the title’s sales for the week. Director William Wyler’s three-and-a-half-hour adaptation of Lew Wallace’s 1880 novel Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ stars Charlton Heston as Judah Ben-Hur, whose opposition to the occupation of Judea by the Roman Empire brings him into conflict with his childhood friend Messala (Stephen Boyd). After Messala fabricates a charge of treason against Ben-Hur, his family is imprisoned his family and he is sentenced to a harsh life of slavery. But when fate brings Ben-Hur into the favor of a Roman nobleman, he returns to Judea as a champion of the chariot races, seeking to avenge his family’s dishonor. It was the No. 4 Blu-ray seller, No. 2 on the 4K chart.

The No. 6 overall seller in its debut was Universal’s Song Sung Blue, which was No. 11 on the Blu-ray Disc chart with 25% of its first-week sales coming from the HD format (it wasn’t released on 4K disc). The music-themed love story stars Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson as a husband and wife who form a Neil Diamond tribute band. It earned $39.2 million at the domestic box office.

The top disc seller the previous four weeks, Universal’s Wicked: For Good, slipped to No. 7 overall, No. 6 on the Blu-ray chart and No. 13 on the 4K chart.

Other newcomers cracking the overall top 20 include Paramount’s Dexter: Resurrection — The Complete First Season at No. 8 (No. 13 on the Blu-ray chart); Cineverse’s remake of Silent Night, Deadly Night at No. 9 (No. 9 on the Blu-ray and 4K charts; Shout! Studios’ DVD-only Savage Hunt at No. 12 overall; Shout! Studios’ remake of the fantasy film Deathstalker landed at No. 13; and Paramount’s Regretting You was No. 14.

The week’s top new release was Sony Pictures’ Nuremberg, a Blu-ray-only release that debuted at No. 6 overall and No. 2 on the Blu-ray Disc chart.

In the historical drama, based on the 2013 book The Nazi and the Psychiatrist, the Allies, led by the unyielding chief prosecutor Robert H. Jackson (Michael Shannon), have the task of ensuring high ranking Nazi officials answer for the Holocaust in the trial of the century while a U.S. Army psychiatrist (Rami Malek) is locked in a dramatic psychological duel with former Reichsmarschall Hermann Göring (Russell Crowe), revealing the sobering truth that ordinary men commit extraordinary evil. The film earned $14.5 million at the domestic box office.

‘Wicked: For Good’ Tops January Disc Sales to Begin 2026

Universal Pictures Home Entertainment’s Wicked: For Good was No. 1 on the top 10 list of physical-media sales for January 2026, according to Circana’s VideoScan tracking service that compiles DVD and Blu-ray transactions.

For Good finds the former friends estranged, with Elphaba living in exile and embracing her reputation as the villain, while Glinda basks in her fame and popularity, until a girl from Kansas changes the political scene in Oz forever. The film was released on disc Jan. 20 and spent its first four weeks atop the disc sales charts after earning $342.9 million at the domestic box office.

The first installment was the top disc seller for all of 2025. A collection of both “Wicked” films was No. 4 in January.

No. 2 in January was Disney’s Tron: Ares, which was released on disc Jan. 6. The third “Tron” movie stars Jared Leto as a warrior program caught between the rivalry between two tech corporations who seeks the code to remain alive in the real world. It earned $73.2 million at the domestic box office and spent two weeks atop the weekly disc sales chart.

The No. 3 disc seller in January was Warner’s One Battle After Another. The film from writer-director Paul Thomas Anderson stars Leonardo DiCaprio as a washed-up former member of a terrorist group who comes out of hiding when his daughter is hunted by a racist military officer. Climbing back into the monthly top 10, at No. 5, was Warner’s Sinners, which was released on disc back in July and ended up as the No. 12 seller for 2025. The Oscar-nominated horror flick from director Ryan Coogler stars Michael B. Jordan as twin brothers and former mob enforcers who return to their hometown to open a blues club, which is promptly attacked by vampires. The cast also includes Hailee Steinfeld, Miles Caton, Jack O’Connell, Wunmi Mosaku, Jayme Lawson, Omar Miller and Delroy Lindo.

At No. 6, dropping four spots from the previous month, was Universal Pictures’ Jurassic World Rebirth, the No. 2 seller for 2025. The seventh film in the “Jurassic” franchise follows a team of mercenaries hired by a medical research company to retrieve DNA from rare dinosaurs living on a tropical island that once housed a research facility that conducted genetic experiments.

No. 7 was DC Studios’ Superman reboot from Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment, after landing at the No. 3 spot in both December and 2025 as a whole. From director James Gunn, the creative boss of DC Studios, the new Superman finds the Man of Steel (David Corenswet) facing international controversy after intervening in a foreign war, while Lex Luthor (Nicholas Holt) reveals a dangerous secret about Superman’s home planet of Krypton.

January’s No. 8 seller was Lionsgate’s Dec. 9 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc re-issue of director Kevin Smith’s fourth film, 1999’s Dogma. The religious-themed comedy relates the story of a pair of fallen angels whose attempts to exploit a loophole in church law to get back into heaven is opposed by a rag-tag team of spiritual forces, including the holy prophets Jay and Silent Bob.

No. 9 in January was Paramount’s Roofman, another Jan. 20 disc release. The film stars Channing Tatum as as struggling father whose double life as a burglar is threatened when he falls for a divorced mother (Kirsten Dunst). The film earned $22.7 million at the domestic box office.

Universal Pictures’ Black Phone 2 was No. 10 on the January chart, maintaining the spot it held in December. From director Scott Derickson, Black Phone 2 finds The Grabber (Ethan Hawke) tormenting Finn (Mason Thames) from beyond the grave by menacing his sister Gwen (Madeline McGraw).

It earned $22.6 million at the domestic box office.

No. 2 on all three charts was the 2007 horror film 1408, which was re-released by Lionsgate on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc exclusively through Amazon. Based on a 1999 Stephen King short story, the film stars John Cusack as an author who specializes in investigating allegedly haunted places. He is warned not to visit room 1408 at a New York City hotel where the manager (Samuel L. Jackson) says no one lasts more than an hour inside the room. Nonetheless, he finds himself trapped inside the room, where he begins to experience strange events.

‘The Grinch’ Led December Disc Sales; ‘Wicked’ Finishes 2025 as Year’s No. 1 Seller

Universal Pictures’ The Grinch was No. 1 on the top 10 list of physical-media sales for December 2025, according to Circana’s VideoScan tracking service that compiles DVD and Blu-ray Disc transactions.

The 2018 animated adaptation of the classic 1957 Dr. Seuss book How the Grinch Stole Christmas! features Benedict Cumberbatch voicing the title character. It was first released on disc in 2019 and in the lead-up to the Christmas season, topped the weekly sales chart for four out of five weeks, including three straight weeks to begin December. It had been the second-best seller in November.

Similarly, No. 4 in November was 2000’s How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Universal’s live-action adaptation of the Dr. Seuss book starring Jim Carrey as the green meanie. It had occupied the No. 10 spot in November.

December’s No. 7 seller was Warner’s The Conjuring: Last Rites, released on disc Nov. 25. The fourth “Conjuring” film and ninth entry in New Line Cinema’s “Conjuring” horror franchise sees Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson return for one last case as renowned real-life paranormal investigators Lorraine and Ed Warren.

No. 8 was Universal’s Wicked, up a spot from its December position. The musical, which adapts the first half of the 2003 Broadway production that reimagines the backstory of characters from The Wizard of Oz, was releaed on disc in February and received a year-end boost from the theatrical release of the sequel, Wicked: For Good, which covers the second half of the stage musical.

No. 9 was another Christmas-themed catalog release, Universal’s The Complete Rankin/Bass Christmas Collection.

Universal Pictures’ Black Phone 2 debuted at No. 10 on the December chart, having released on disc Dec. 23 and topping the weekly sales chart its first two weeks on shelves. From director Scott Derickson, Black Phone 2 finds The Grabber (Ethan Hawke) tormenting Finn (Mason Thames) from beyond the grave by menacing his sister Gwen (Madeline McGraw).

The final top sellers chart for 2025 as a whole was led by Wicked, which had held the year’s top spot since its release in February. Jurassic World Rebirth was No. 2 for the year, having held that position since October.

Superman jumped up a spot in the final month to No. 3, pushing Sony Pictures’ Venom: The Last Dance to No. 4.

Three movies from Disney-owned Marvel Studios ended up in the year’s top 10, led by Thunderbolts*, which maintained its spot at No. 5. Captain America: Brave New World dropped three spots to No. 9, while The Fantastic Four: First Steps moved into the top 10 in the last month, after sitting at No. 11 at the end of November.

Warner’s A Minecraft Movie climbed three spots to No. 6, while Lionsgate’s Ballerina: From the World of John Wick rose three spots to No. 7, and Universal’s live-action How to Train Your Dragon slipped a spot to No. 8.

Universal’s Nosferatu remake fell out of the top 10, finishing the year at No. 13, behind Paramount’s Sonic the Hedgehog 3 at No. 11, and Warner’s Sinners at No. 12.

‘Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale’ Was November’s No. 1 Disc Seller

‘Black Phone 2’ Remains No. 1 Disc Seller, ‘Eyes Wide Shut’ Tops Blu-ray Sales the Week Ended Jan. 3

Universal Pictures’ Black Phone 2 the week ended Jan. 3 remained No. 1 on the Circana VideoScan chart, which tracks combined sales of all disc formats.

From director Scott Derickson, Black Phone 2 finds The Grabber (Ethan Hawke) tormenting Finn (Mason Thames) from beyond the grave by menacing his sister Gwen (Madeline McGraw). It dropped to No. 2 on the dedicated sales chart for Blu-ray formats, and No. 7 on the 4K disc sales chart.

The top seller on the Blu-ray and 4K disc charts was director Stanley Kubrick’s 1999 erotic drama Eyes Wide Shut starring Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman. The Criterion Collection released new Blu-ray and 4K disc editions of the film Nov. 25. Nearly all copies sold were the new Criterion version, with 91% being the new 4K version; 8.86% was of regular Blu-ray versions, with the remaining handful of copies sold being the old Warner DVD. It was No. 2 on the overall disc sales chart, moving up from the seventh overall spot the previous week, when it was third on the Blu-ray chart and second on the 4K chart.

The No. 3 title on the Blu-ray and 4K charts was the 1985 comedy Pee-wee’s Big Adventure, buoyed by new Criterion Blu-ray and 4K disc editions released Dec. 16. It was No. 18 overall. The new Criterion 4K version accounted for 87% of its weekly sales, with 11.9% from Blu-ray versions and the rest from Warner’s older DVD.

Rounding out the overall top five during the New Year’s Week was Paramount’s Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning at No. 3 (No. 4 Blu-ray, No. 2 4K), Universal’s Jurassic World Rebirth at No. 4 (No. 7 Blu-ray), and Universal’s The Grinch at No. 5 (No. 22 Blu-ray, No. 23 4K).
