AMC Networks Previews ‘Vampire Lestat’ Series Premiering in June

AMC Networks Feb. 26 unveiled a sneak peek from “The Vampire Lestat,” the next installment in the “Anne Rice’s Immortal Universe” franchise that premieres in June on AMC and AMC+.

The series picks up after the two seasons of the “Interview With the Vampire” series based on the first book of Rice’s “Vampire Chronicles” novel series.

In the new rock and roll centric season, Lestat goes on an electric multi-city tour while being haunted by “muses” from his wild and rebellious past. As his band’s popularity and star power rises, so does Lestat’s influence over vampires and humans alike, leaving others to contend with Lestat’s power in the face of the Great Conversion, an unnatural surge in the vampire population.

AMC’s preview scene, called “The Book,” features stars Sam Reid (Lestat) and Jacob Anderson (Louis) reacting to the release of the book Interview With the Vampire by Daniel Molloy (Eric Bogosian).

The cast also includes Assad Zaman, Bogosian, Delainey Hayles and Jennifer Ehle.  Executive producers are showrunner Rolin Jones, Mark Johnson, Hannah Moscovitch, Christopher Rice and the late Anne Rice.

The teaser scene follows the release of “Long Face,” Lestat’s first official rock single by series composer Daniel Hart, performed by Reid. A lineup of new tracks is set to roll out in the coming months through the Vampire Lestat artist profile pages at major digital music services, including Spotify, Apple Music and Amazon Music.

AMC Drops ‘Sneak-Peak’ Clip from Episode 5 of ‘Anne Rice’s Talamasca: The Secret Order’

AMC and AMC+ on Nov. 13 unveiled a sneak-peek clip from the upcoming penultimate episode of “Anne Rice’s Talamasca: The Secret Order,” the newest addition to “Anne Rice’s Immortal Universe.”

Episode five, “The Puzzle Palace,” premieres Nov. 16, with the season finale coming on Nov. 23.

The six-episode first season of “Anne Rice’s Talamasca” focuses on a secretive society called the Talamasca, comprised of the men and women responsible for tracking and containing the witches, vampires, and other creatures scattered around the globe.

In episode five, Jasper and Guy come head-to-head at the London Mother House. Helen’s motives are questioned. Guy and Doris become closer. Loren and Ridge are on the verge of discovering an important revelation.

Headlined by Nicholas Denton, the series stars Elizabeth McGovern, William Fichtner, Maisie Richardson-Sellers and Celine Buckens, with Jason Schwartzman set to guest star and Eric Bogosian and Justin Kirk reprising their roles from “Anne Rice’s Interview With the Vampire” as crossover characters in the new series.

Denton stars as Guy Anatole. About to graduate law school, he is approached by a representative of the Talamasca, a secretive agency that monitors and protects us from the supernatural world. When Guy learns that the Talamasca has been tracking him since his childhood, he falls headlong into a world of secret agents and immortal beings who, up to now, have maintained a fragile balance with the mortal world. McGovern portrays Helen, a seasoned veteran of the Talamasca, and the leader of its New York Motherhouse; Fichtner plays Jasper, a mysterious American who has quietly assumed control and influence over the Talamasca’s London Motherhouse; Richardson-Sellers plays Olive, a beguiling and ambitious agent of the Talamasca; Buckens stars as Doris, strong-willed and with an old soul, she lives with a coven of witches on a houseboat; while Schwartzman portrays Burton, a charming, rakish vampire, leading a cloistered life in a luxurious Upper West Side penthouse, Bogosian plays Daniel Molloy, and Kirk is Talamasca agent Raglan James.

“Anne Rice’s Talamasca” is executive produced by Oscar-nominated John Lee Hancock and Mark Lafferty, who also serve as co-showrunners; award-winning producer Mark Johnson, who oversees Anne Rice’s Immortal Universe; and Tom Williams, along with Christopher Rice and the late Anne Rice. AMC Networks Adds 200,000 Quarterly Streaming Subs to Reach 10.4 Million

AMC Networks Nov. 7 reported a gain of 200,000 subscription streaming subscribers across its portfolio of streaming services, including Shudder, Acorn TV, ALLBLK, HIDIVE, AMC+ and Sundance Now, in the third-quarter (ended Sept. 30).

The company ended the fiscal period with 10.4 million SVOD subscribers, who generated $174 million in domestic streaming revenue, up 14% from $152.6 million in revenue during the previous-year period.

In the quarter, AMC saw 850,000 Charter Spectrum TV subscribers access the ad-supported AMC+ streaming service. It also renewed the branded content licensing agreement for “The AMC Collection” with Netflix, and expanded its long-standing relationship to include international licensing of certain AMC Studios’ originals.

The company also launched the company’s first triple bundle with Prime Video, offering AMC+, MGM+ and Starz at significant savings over standalone pricing.

AMC continued momentum in free ad-supported streaming television (FAST) and AVOD with key distribution renewals, including Roku and Samsung.

And the company expanded the “Anne Rice Immortal Universe” with the premiere of the  third series in the franchise, “Anne Rice’s Talamasca: The Secret Order”; completed production of a new AMC and AMC+ series that will premiere next spring called “The Audacity,” written and produced by “Better Call Saul” and “Succession” writer Jonathan Glatzer; and announced the renewal of Acorn TV’s most successful series ever, “Irish Blood,” starring and executive produced by Alicia Silverstone, for a second season.

“Our performance in the third quarter marks a key milestone in our transition from a cable networks business to a global streaming and technology focused content company,” CEO Kristin Dolan said in a statement. “Streaming revenue growth accelerated and will represent our largest single source of domestic revenue this year.”

Indeed, legacy media (premium television) saw affiliate revenue decline 13% to $142 million, from $163.2 million a year ago, primarily due to basic subscriber declines, and to a lesser extent, contractual rate decreases in connection with renewals.

Content licensing revenue decreased 27% to $59 million, from $80.8 million, primarily due to the timing and availability of deliveries in the period. Advertising revenue decreased 17% to $110 million, from $132.5 million primarily due to linear ratings declines and lower marketplace pricing.

Dolan said AMC remains on track to deliver $250 million in free cash for the full fiscal year.

“We have built the components of a modern media business that is nimble, independent and well suited to today’s environment and whatever comes next,” Dolan said.
