Universal Pictures’ The Grinch<\/em> was No. 1 on the top 10 list of physical-media sales for December 2025, according to Circana’s VideoScan tracking service that compiles DVD and Blu-ray Disc transactions.<\/p>\n

The 2018 animated adaptation of the classic 1957 Dr. Seuss book How the Grinch Stole Christmas!<\/em> features Benedict Cumberbatch voicing the title character. It was first released on disc in 2019 and in the lead-up to the Christmas season, topped the weekly sales chart for four out of five weeks, including three straight weeks to begin December. It had been the second-best seller in November.<\/p>\n

Similarly, No. 4 in November was 2000’s How the Grinch Stole Christmas<\/em>, Universal’s live-action adaptation of the Dr. Seuss book starring Jim Carrey as the green meanie. It had occupied the No. 10 spot in November.<\/p>\n

Up to No. 2 in December was Universal Pictures’ Jurassic World Rebirth<\/em>, after taking the third spot in November. The seventh film in the “Jurassic” franchise follows a team of mercenaries hired by a medical research company to retrieve DNA from rare dinosaurs living on a tropical island that once housed a research facility that conducted genetic experiments.<\/p>\n

No. 3 was DC Studios’ Superman<\/em> reboot from Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment, one spot better than its November chart placement. From director James Gunn, the creative boss of DC Studios, the new Superman<\/em> finds the Man of Steel (David Corenswet) facing international controversy after intervening in a foreign war, while Lex Luthor (Nicholas Holt) reveals a dangerous secret about Superman’s home planet of Krypton.<\/p>\n

No. 5 in December was the classic 1965 animated TV special A Charlie Brown Christmas<\/em>, available on disc from Warner.<\/p>\n

No. 6 for December, as it was in November was Paramount’s Mission: Impossible \u2014 The Final Reckoning. <\/em>The eighth “Mission: Impossible” film deals with Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) and his IMF team confronting a rogue AI program that seeks to wipe out humanity<\/p>\n

December’s No. 7 seller was Warner’s The Conjuring: Last Rites<\/em>, released on disc Nov. 25. The fourth “Conjuring” film and ninth entry in New Line Cinema\u2019s “Conjuring” horror franchise sees Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson return for one last case as renowned real-life paranormal investigators Lorraine and Ed Warren.<\/p>\n

No. 8 was Universal’s Wicked<\/em>, up a spot from its December position. The musical, which adapts the first half of the 2003 Broadway production that reimagines the backstory of characters from The Wizard of Oz<\/em>, was releaed on disc in February and received a year-end boost from the theatrical release of the sequel, Wicked: For Good<\/em>, which covers the second half of the stage musical.<\/p>\n

No. 9 was another Christmas-themed catalog release, Universal’s The Complete Rankin\/Bass Christmas Collection<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Universal Pictures’ Black Phone 2<\/em> debuted at No. 10 on the December chart, having released on disc Dec. 23 and topping the weekly sales chart its first two weeks on shelves. From director Scott Derickson, Black Phone 2<\/em> finds The Grabber (Ethan Hawke) tormenting Finn (Mason Thames) from beyond the grave by menacing his sister Gwen (Madeline McGraw).<\/p>\n

The final top sellers chart for 2025 as a whole was led by Wicked, <\/em>which had held the year’s top spot since its release in February.\u00a0Jurassic World Rebirth<\/em> was No. 2 for the year, having held that position since October.<\/p>\n

Superman<\/em> jumped up a spot in the final month to No. 3, pushing Sony Pictures’ Venom: The Last Dance <\/em>to No. 4.<\/p>\n

Three movies from Disney-owned Marvel Studios ended up in the year’s top 10, led by Thunderbolts*, <\/em>which maintained its spot at No. 5. Captain America: Brave New World<\/em> dropped three spots to No. 9, while The Fantastic Four: First Steps<\/em> moved into the top 10 in the last month, after sitting at No. 11 at the end of November.<\/p>\n

Warner’s A Minecraft Movie<\/em> climbed three spots to No. 6, while Lionsgate’s Ballerina: From the World of John Wick <\/em>rose three spots to No. 7, and Universal’s live-action How to Train Your Dragon<\/em> slipped a spot to No. 8.<\/p>\n

Universal’s Nosferatu <\/em>remake fell out of the top 10, finishing the year at No. 13, behind Paramount’s Sonic the Hedgehog 3<\/em> at No. 11, and Warner’s Sinners<\/em> at No. 12.<\/p>\n
