‘Moana 2’ Tops DEG Digital Transactions Chart for Week of Feb. 9

Disney’s Moana 2 remained No. 1 on the DEG: The Digital Entertainment Group’s top 10 digital sales and rentals chart provided by GfK Entertainment for the week ended Feb. 9.

Released for premium digital sale and rental starting Jan. 28, the animated film, a sequel to 2016’s Moana, reunites Moana (voiced by Auli’i Cravalho) and Maui (Dwayne Johnson) three years later for an expansive new voyage alongside a crew of unlikely seafarers. After receiving an unexpected call from her wayfinding ancestors, Moana must journey to the far seas of Oceania and into dangerous, long-lost waters.

Up two spots to No. 4 was Universal’s Wicked. The movie adaptation of the Broadway musical, starring Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo and directed by Jon Chu became available for premium digital rental and sale Dec. 31.

Lionsgate’s Den of Thieves 2: Pantera stayed at No. 3. Gerard Butler and O’Shea Jackson Jr. return in the sequel to 2018’s action-heist hit Den of Thieves. In the film, Big Nick (Butler) is back on the hunt in Europe and closing in on Donnie (Jackson), who is embroiled in a plot to pull off a massive heist of the world’s largest diamond exchange.
