20th Century Studios’ ‘Predator: Badlands’ Looks to Jumpstart Weekend Box Office
November 7, 2025
Following an October box office that was the lowest in 27 years, Disney-owned 20th Century Studios’ newest installment in the “Predator” sci-fi adventure franchise, Predator: Badlands, is projected to generate $30 million in North American ticket sales through Nov. 9, according to estimates from BoxOfficeReport.com.
Starring Elle Fanning and Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi, the movie saw $4.8 million in preview ticket sales across Nov. 5-6. In 2018, The Predator opened with $24.6 million ($30.9 million today) and finished its domestic run with $51 million.
Predator: Badlands is among five new releases over the weekend, including Amazon MGM Studios’ Sarah’s Oil (projected $3 million), about black girl who finds oil on her land and becomes a millionaire at the age of 11; MUBI’s Die My Love (projected $2.8 million), starring Jennifer Lawrence as a young mother who develops postpartum depression alongside her partner Robert Pattinson; Sony Pictures Classics’ post-World War II war crimes trial drama Nuremberg (projected $2.7 million), starring Remi Malek and Russell Crowe; and Black Bear Pictures’ Christy (projected $1.7 million), starring Sydney Sweeney as former professional boxer Christy Martin.
The last four titles will trail returning box office releases, including Paramount’s Regretting You (projected $6 million); Universal’s Black Phone 2 (projected $5.3 million); Sony/Crunchyroll’s anime Chainsaw Man — The Movie: Reze Arc (projected $3.2 million); and Focus Features’ Bugonia (projected $3.1 million), according to Box OfficeReport.com.
“Four new smaller films opening in wide release will likely occupy most of the bottom half of this weekend’s top 10 chart,” analyst Daniel Garris wrote in an online post. “Sarah’s Oil may end up with the highest debut of the four films, thanks in part to opening in 2,410 locations, which is expected to be the largest location count among the four films.”
