Words of Wisdom From Industry Leaders to the 40 Under 40, Class of 2025
July 31, 2025
To celebrate the release of our eighth annual 40 Under 40 issue, in which we salute the rising stars in the world of digital entertainment, I once again reached out to some of the digital entertainment industry’s top executives and asked them what they’d like to say to our 40 Under 40 Class of 2025 honorees.

David Graber, EVP of content licensing at Warner Bros. Discovery, says, “Congratulations on this incredible recognition! As you celebrate this moment, I hope you also see it as the beginning of a new chapter — one filled with even greater purpose and ambition. Your qualities have brought you here, and they will carry you forward as you continue to innovate, challenge norms, and leave your mark on this ever-evolving landscape. I’m truly excited for what lies ahead — for each of you, and for all of us who are lucky enough to know you, learn from you, and work alongside you. Keep pushing. The best is yet to come.”
Stephen L. Hodge, CEO of OTTera, advises, “If you’re doing something different and it works for your business, don’t waste time watching what everyone else around you is doing. Be intentional. Be mindful of the details.”
Bill Neighbors, chief content officer at Xperi Corp., says, “Congratulations, rising stars! I encourage each of you to lean into the talent and hard work that helped you earn this recognition. My advice is to put your integrity first; when you have established your integrity with your coworkers, your partners and industry colleagues, all conversations become easier. Be assertive rather than aggressive, be collaborative rather than a ‘lone star.’ Become the world’s best listener. Build trust and be trustworthy. Focus on the needs of your employer — while simultaneously listening to your outside partners and the industry as a whole. Lean on what you have learned, and leverage your experience where it remains relevant. Be flexible and open-minded and accept the fact that our business is shifting under our feet. And, finally, give back — mentor other rising stars.”
And, from my old friend Sal Scamardo, VP of marketing and distribution at FilmRise: “Congratulations to this year’s class of Media Play News’ 40 Under 40. At this pivotal moment, as waves of innovation and transformation reshape the very core of our industry, your achievements stand as a testament to what visionary leadership looks like in times of rapid change. The true essence of leadership rests in your ability to chart bold new paths, to not only respond to change, but also to anticipate, shape, and embrace it — guiding your teams and audiences into the future. As you help redefine the creative landscape for generations to come, your vision, adaptability, and willingness to lead at this critical juncture mark you as standard-bearers for the next era of home entertainment.”
